Surrey Muse Writers (SMW) is a drop-in for writers to present work, exchange ideas and provide feedback to each other in order to facilitate the development of creative writing projects. Guidelines are in place for a respectful, positive, warm and inspiring interaction.

Judy MacInnes is a poet and a short fiction writer. Her work has appeared in various literary journals and anthologies. Her poem ‘Troll’, about a preschooler who swallows a doll, won the Other Voices Prize for Poetry. Judy’s first book ‘Snatch’ (Anvil Press 2000) included both poems and stories. She is a Kwantlen alum and has a BFA in Creative Writing from University of Victoria and an MFA in Creative Writing from University of British Columbia. Judy is now writing her second book titled ‘Lightning Round’. Judy lived in Surrey for close to twenty years, and both rural life and suburbia are central to her work.

Larry Nicholson is a writer, singer/songwriter, performer and playwright. His work has been published in newspapers, magazines, anthologies, and some of it has appeared on television. Larry has written, directed and acted in stage plays, and he has appeared in an independent film. After graduating with a Fine Arts degree from UBC’s Creative Writing program, he now works as a consultant in a variety of fields, and as a cultural interventionist with a non-profit First Nations organization serving the Lower Mainland.

Surrey Muse Writers (SMW) is a drop-in for writers to present work, exchange ideas and provide feedback to each other in order to facilitate the development of creative writing projects. Guidelines are in place for a respectful, positive, warm and inspiring interaction.

Manolis (Emmanuel Aligizakis) is a Greek-Canadian poet, translator, publisher and author who has written over twenty books of poetry where each title explores a different theme, a different emotion. His work has appeared in various languages and countries, and he has received international literary awards and distinctions. He has translated in English great Greek poets such as Yannis Ritsos, Constantine Cavafy, and George Seferis. His translation ‘George Seferis-Collected Poems’ was shortlisted for the Greek National Literary Awards. Manolis heads Libros Libertad, an unorthodox and independent publishing company he founded in 2006 with the mission to publish unique literary books.
